Contrary to its title ‘Thedi Vanda Lakshmi’ is a murder mystery. Lakshmi’s (Lakshmi) brother Rathnam is murdered. The police calls Lakshmi and enquires her about an amount of Rs. 20, 00,000/- that Rathnam and his accomplices had stolen. Lakshmi who is unaware of all this is shocked to know that her brother was a criminal. Ratham’s death proves to be the beginning of Lakshmi’s woes. On one side Rathnam’s accomplice are after Lakshmi to get the money and on the other hand the Police department pressurizes her to tell where the money is. Lakshmi is unable to convince both that she does not know anything about the money. The only point of solace for her is Ramesh’s (Jaishankar) support. What will Lakshmi do? How will she find the money and prove her innocence?
